Event Decorators Houston (EDH) is a premier event and party decorating company specializing in wedding, social, and corporate event decorating. But that’s not all we do! We also coordinate and plan special events, from cocktail and holiday parties to bridal and baby shows and charity events. We create warm, elegant, and intimate events in line with our clients’ vision and budget. We offer highly personalized service from the initial consultation to the day of execution. We are incredibly hands-on and easily accessible, ensuring a stress-free process for each client we work with. ABOUT THE FOUNDERS

​

Melissa and Chynna are a dynamic mother-and-daughter event decorating duo residing in Houston. Melissa began her career as the founder of Christmas Wonder Lights, a premier holiday lighting and interior decorating service where Chynna honed her skills. After many requests for other events, they expanded their service offering and developed a full-service event decorating company.

Melissa and Chynna approach each event as a unique experience and truly understand their clients as individuals, enabling them to transform their visions into impeccable events.  Together with their creative eyes and attention to detail, they curate unique events that create beautiful and lasting memories.

When they are not prepping an event space or meeting with clients, Melissa enjoys spending time with her other two children and two grandsons, traveling, where she gets many of her unique ideas from, and Chynna is busy being the Mother to two beautiful little boys, Samson and Jireh.

1. How Would You Describe Your Design Style?

When hiring a designer or event decorator, it’s important to let u know your style to see if we are a good fit. For example, Chynna and Melissa at Event Decorators Houston don’t specialize in one particular style. Whether it’s contemporary, traditional, eclectic, romantic, or serene, we find inspiration from our clients and what they envision rather than staying within one style profile. However, we do love it when a client allows us to think outside of the box and use some of our own creative freedom.

2. What Design Services Do You Offer?

This is an essential question for a couple of reasons. First, you want to ensure you’re working with a firm that specializes and excels in the services you need. At Event Decorators Houston, we offer a wide variety of services, including event planning, party decorating, and styling, but we receive the most requests for corporate event decorating, followed by weddings.

 

3. How Much Do You Charge, And Can You Work With My Budget?

When hiring an event or party decorator designer, budget questions should come into the conversation at the very beginning. It doesn’t benefit anyone to start working on a special occasion, only to find out the budget is too small or too large. But we know budgets can be tough to talk about. We recommend interviewing a few designers to get a baseline for your project's cost. Before the design even begins, my firm answers this question in our client questionnaire. If the budget is a fit, then we move into venues and take deeper dives into specific styles. If the client needs to stay within a smaller budget, we can recommend other types of flowers, even artificial flowers, that would be a better match. We’ve found that Houston is an incredibly collaborative market. We’ve worked alongside other designers to ensure that clients get the outstanding service they deserve,

 

4. How Will You Present Your Design Concept And Ideas?

The answer to this question could be a variety of different things: drawings, mood boards, or interactive digital presentations. We recommend that you follow up this question with others that give you a better understanding of the design firm’s process as a whole. For example, our signature process works like this:

Discovery Each project begins with a comprehensive discussion to identify the client’s needs and style. We review inspiration images and talk through the overall space event.

Inspiration: Our event decorators create a concept statement that guides the overall design direction of the project.

 Design: We present fully developed design ideas, and if any revisions are necessary, they’re shown in a follow-up presentation where the final design is selected.

 

Procurement: Once the design is final, our procurement team orders everything that is needed. Some of these items may be rentals, while others will be made especially for you.

 

Installation Depending on the scale of your project, our event decorators may need only a few hours  to prepare everything while other events may need to be decorated the day before.
